Hot Chocolate Pudding

t’s officially December, and the weather has finally started to get cold. It’s the perfect time to make a hot chocolate and curl up on the couch. Instead of going for a traditional Hot Chocolate, how about going for an ombre chocolaty dessert like the Hot Chocolate Pudding! One word, YUM ?

What you’ll need:

• 10g powdered gelatin
• ¼ cup cold water
• 300 ml whipping cream
• 600 ml milk
• 5 tbsp cocoa powder
• 45 g dark or milk chocolate, finely chopped
• 40 g sugar (for the pudding) – 20g (for the topping)
• 250 ml whipping cream
• Dark chocolate shavings (to decorate with)

How to make it:

1. Grab a small bowl filled with cold water and sprinkle the gelatin on top. Set it aside.
2. Pour the milk, whipping cream, chocolate and sugar into a pot. Strain the cocoa powder and add it to the pot. Set the heat to low/medium and whisk it all to combine. Beware to not bring the mixture to a boil!
3. Add the gelatin and whisk it into the mixture until fully dissolved.
4. Pour the liquid into a container with a spout.
5. Set 5 transparent glasses onto a tray and evenly divide the mixture between them.
6. Allow the pudding to cool to room temperature, then cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 5 hours (or overnight, if possible). In this time, the pudding will divide into layers and will develop an ombre effect, with the darkest color tasting most chocolate-y.
7. To make the toping: place the whipped cream and sugar in a bowl and whisk until thick and fluffy.
8. Spoon the cream onto the pudding. Top with dark chocolate shavings and enjoy!
